More than sixty years of early mornings
Riverside Rowing Club was founded in 1962 by a handful of friends with two borrowed boats. Today it is home to juniors, masters, racers and people who simply love being on the water.
From a shed by the mill to a boathouse for all
The first crews trained from a wooden shed next to the old mill, carrying their boats across the towpath every morning. Within ten years the club had grown enough to build its own boathouse on Boathouse Lane, much of it by members' own hands.
Since then the club has kept the same simple idea: rowing should be open to anyone who wants to learn. We run courses for beginners, a strong junior section, adaptive sessions and racing squads for those who want to compete.

- 2022Sixty years on the River Ember, celebrated with a regatta for all ages.
